California Gun Laws
A recent Herald article asks whether California Gun laws
might have stopped the Florida school shooting.
California legislators are quick
to pat themselves on the back for passing multiple gun laws for our
protection. The question, not yet
resolved, is whether a premeditated criminal act of murder is prevented by any
legislation since murder is already against the law?
Public cooperation
would seem to be a desirable aid in enforcing the law, but, in California, it
is difficult to know which laws to enforce.
Immigration laws are largely ignored by California Legislators and
Sanctuary cities have sprung up to protect violators of Federal Law.
Accountability is a willingness and obligation to accept
responsibility for an intentional act or activity.
The
real issue here is: "If our elected
representatives not only ignore the law but refuse to accept their sworn duty
to honor and defend the Constitution of the United States, who remains to be
held accountable?
It
would appear this State requires more than new laws to prevent crime. A possible solution to this dilemma is
political "role models" who honor the laws of our nation before considering new
laws to restrict human behavior.
