Partial Government Shutdown
I think most Americans realize that
even though a border wall is mandatory, it is not the entire solution to the
massive caravan invasion at our southern border. The Democrats, on the other hand, quickly passed
a bill to reopen the government prior to any negotiation over a border wall with
the understanding they did not favor a wall at all. This, of course, is not even the beginning of
a viable solution and is an embarrassment to me as a registered Democrat.
The
suggestion by the Democrats that employing drones and modern technology along
the border is a better solution than a border wall is, of course, ridiculous.
It would appear to me a better
option for negotiation would have been legislation amending certain provisions
of the Immigration Law to deal with the current border invasion . . . in
example:
1 1. Those
persons apprehended in the act of crossing our border in violation of our
nation's immigration laws should be barred from requesting asylum. They should be finger printed and returned
immediately to their country of origin.
2. 2. Those
persons caught violating our border a second time should be prosecuted for a
felony and thus permanently disqualified from entry or citizenship to this
country.
3 3. A child
born within the boundaries of the United States can be considered a U.S.
citizen only if one of the
parents is, or has achieved, citizenship in the U.S.
4. 4. And
finally, some provision should be made to fund an audit department as part of
the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) to review records of those
companies suspected or hiring illegal aliens in violation of immigration laws
instituted in 1987 during the Reagan Administration as part of his amnesty program for 1.4 million illegal aliens. Employers were required to verify legal
status of their employees. This law required two forms of I.D. (one of which
had to have a picture) and those employers in violation of this law would be
penalized with a fine of $10,000 per individual hired in violation of this act.
If crossing our border without any legal
reason to do so, is not going to allow a lengthy stay in the U.S. while the
over-crowded immigration courts review an asylum claim, and, if employers
realize there is a severe penalty for hiring illegal aliens, they will stop
doing so. It does not take a genius to recognize that if
an illegal cannot acquire employment . . . he cannot stay!
One wonders why the Democratic
contingency in the House of Representatives returned Nancy Pelosi to Speaker of
the House. She did not demonstrate any
real leadership skills or willingness to negotiate a compromise over political
issues during her first tenure as Speaker of the House.
Currently,
she is pursuing a hostile and divisive posture with respect to the government
shut-down over this massive invasion of South Americans who appear unable to
recognize our sovereignty as a nation and readily ignore and defy this nation's
immigration laws. I am unable to
determine why Senator Chuck Schumer is supporting Pelosi's lack of intelligent
negotiating skills in this matter.
