Open Letter to Senator Kamala Harris

Dear Senator Kamala Harris,

I wrote you a letter which asked (among other things) if the Democratic Party was actually interested in solving the immigration issue - instead your email, dated April 5, 2019, goes on and on about how President Trump was (and is) a bad boy and shut down the US government etc, etc.

The US Border Patrol reports that in February 66,000 persons crossing our border illegally were apprehended - 36,000, of which are parents and children and it is estimated that apprehensions will exceed 100,000 in March.  There are thousands more lining up in caravans coming from as far as El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.  America One News (OAN) claims the cost of these illegals has reached more that $200-billion just for 2019.

Somehow, I had expected public outrage by the fact that caravans in foreign nations, numbered in the thousands, have organized with the intent to inflict themselves upon our sovereign nation with the expectation they have a "right" to be here.  This, of course, is an insult to the integrity and the rights of all those persons who have sought citizenship in accordance to the legal method.

The real question here is "What is my Congressional Representative proposing to do about this issue?"

I notice you continue to thump your chest about your experiences as a State prosecutor and how you are prepared to enforce the law.  Is this rhetoric?

As a prosecutor you must know that in order to prosecute anyone crossing the American Border in violation of American Immigration law, the offender must be aware of the actual US boundaries and commit an overt act in defiance of a "marked" boundary which warns him of the consequences of his illegal act.  A fence with a sign that says: "NO TRESPASSING - VILLATORS WILL BE PROSECUTED AND PROHIBITED FROM REQUESTING ASYLUM!"  or words to that affect, would affectively notify any trespasser.

If you think you are Presidential material don't you think you should be voicing a plan to stem the tide of illegal immigration?  It is obvious a fence and signs are necessary and could have been negotiated prior to the government shutdown.  A twenty-foot high fence and $-billions in expense could easily have been negotiated to a regular chain-link type with signs provided Congress (Democrats and Republicans) worked together to provide amendments to the immigration laws which would make it illegal for border violators to request asylum.

My suggestion is that you get off your "High Horse" and attempt to seek a plan which would involve cooperation by both sides of the political fence.  Who knows, this might actually improve your political ratings which (to be honest) appear to be less than desirable.
