Should
we be concerned that, according to the Council on Foreign Relations August 14, 2019 report, China provides the US with 97 percent of
all antibiotics and about 80 percent of active pharmaceutical ingredients?
Meanwhile,
California has entered into a $1-billion contract with China to provide
protective masks; the US, according to a USA Today news item (May 9, 2020),
exported to Europe disposable surgical and N95 respirator masks valued at $83.1
million.
It's
bad enough that we must wear masks, avoid humans, our pets, and stand six feet
away from everyone, but it appears, with respect to life saving
pharmaceuticals, our nation is dependent upon a foreign power which is
considered to be the heart of the current pandemic!
